Jodi Stumbo - Coach and Trainer

Jodi Stumbo first joined Carl and Sandra's in 1993 and worked as a trainer under the mentorship of Carl Miller from 1994 through 1996 before moving to Chicago to pursue a Masters in Exercise Science and Cardiac Rehab. Jodi returned to Santa Fe and has been conducting Tuesday evening lifting clinics at Carl and Sandra's since 1999. Originally from Pittsburgh, Jodi was a competitive gymnast at her Division 1 high school where she also played volleyball and field hockey. She began Olympic lifting in 1993 and has set 38 New Mexico State Records. She has competed in the National Championships and in her late thirties, qualified for and competed at two American Open Championships. She is a four time National Masters Champion. Kim Alderwick - Coach and Trainer

Kim Alderwick has been a member of Carl and Sandra's Gym for twenty years and a trainer for 9 of them. She grew up playing tennis, skiing and swimming and came to weight training via aerobics. She taught aerobics for two years at the Fifth Street Studios and skiing at the Santa Fe Ski Basin before returning to school for a degree in elementary education. She taught third and sixth grades in Santa Fe and has tutored extensively. Kim began practicing the Olympic lifts in 1993 and competed from 1994 until 2001, setting twelve state records in the process. Her best lifts in competition are a 42.5k snatch and a 50k clean and jerk. October 2010 marked her return to competitive lifting. Kim worked closely with both Carl Miller and Sandra Thomas in her training as a coach for the gym, an education that is on-going at home with her husband and colleague, Shane Miller. She recently assisted Carl Miller with the editing of his latest book, Olympic Weightlifting for the Connoisseur and very much enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the science behind the sport and its history. Kim views the gym membership as friends and family, and strives to design programming that meets the needs of her clients, giving special attention to appropriate challenge, safety and interest.
